Ramadan is here and its time for my foodie soul to wonder around for some authentic only-available-during-special-festival delicacies in my city of joy! I have been hearing about Manzilat Fatima’s awesome cooking prowess for some time now… so once she started the take away (it is restricted to only one dish now..the haleem) ..i was one of the first to comment that i will surely make a trip..soon! And needless to say, i did. And i am oh so glad that i did! The haleem that Manzilat makes is exquisite!! I have lived in Hyderabad for some time and have tasted the haleem almost everywhere! Though, the kolkata haleem tastes very different from its Hyderabadi counterpart (much like the biriyani) …i absolutely prefer the kolkata one..and Manzilat’s haleem rules the roost! The piping hot haleem filled in that earthern pot..handi ..gave it this almost rustic, going back to the roots wala feel and the sprigs of Mint and pieces of lemon in the rich concoction made it even more endearing! I am still in my 2nd pot of haleem…and i will go back for more! Thanks Manzilat for this! Will be waiting for more additions to your retail menu!

Visited the main Shiraz outlet after ages… and we were not disappointed.

Foodie health tip of the day

Don’t Drink Sugar Calories… This is because liquid sugar calories don’t get registered by the brain in the same way as calories from solid foods.

Food safety tip of the day…

Use a food thermometer when cooking… A food thermometer should be used to ensure that food is safely cooked and that cooked food is held at safe temperatures until eaten.
